Hey, haven't heard much news out of anybody up here. I was just wondering if anybody else has had any luck north of SF bay area. I've personally had none and I've spent a good chunk of my time hunting lately. It has been so warm and there has been so little precipitation up here that I think the mushies have gone into hiding for a while. Oh well, clouds are building and it's getting kinda breezy now so maybe it is that time again. Peace

Bob, Thanks for the pics. Cali needs to be represented more in this forum. Thanks to people like deathcapcubie, and cyanokid we are finding out that the bay area has more to offer then just cyans and fibs. Although we do get alot of people in here from cali that just pop there heads in to see if someone will tell them where to find shrooms are without doing any research. Just a random vicadin induced thought. im itching!!!

Yeah, I'll thank the guy I know, who sent me the pics. He assures me that they're real. I wish he'd get some decent habitat pics, but he never seems to take his damn camera on his lunch break. C'mon, rain.

i really need to make a trip up north to chek out the area, to pic mad amanitas, to drink some beer and to pay respects to my stupid ass friend that fell off of a bridge up there trying to repel it. it wasnt his fault, his carabiner broke.

I'm in mid cali I guess you could say... santa cruz... South from SF but not SoCal... I have a cyanescens bed thats been fruiting the past few months rain or shine, wet or dry. They seem to have taken shelter under some bushes and survive from the morning dew, and are always there when I go back every weekend... The whole season i've collected nearly 6 pounds from this spot... But it's starting to slow down with this lack of rain...
*does a little rain dance*

leafing, the audubon book is useless in my opinion... how much did u pay for it? hopefuly it wasnt too pricey... swing by your local bookstore and pick up paul stamets "psilocybe mushrooms of the world" and david aroras "Mushrooms Demystified"... that should help you alot if your in cali, david arora actualy grew up in santa cruz where i live so it makes it easier for me to identify the mushrooms around here using his book. im sure theres a mycological society in your area, see if any local shroomers have written any books on your area, im sure they would be hard to find but worth your while.

I know that you can get it online at amazon, or I saw it at a local Borders bookstore (I live in San Jose). It's around. Also, some libraries even carry a copy. I checked one out at a local library, read it, and photo copied a few pages for refference (I'm sure Paul wouldn't mind).
