By none other than Ken Kesey, a classic.

Hopefully I will have the pleasure of reading it one day

>> It was a book first ?? <<
Yes he wrote it about the experiments the gov. did with him in the mental wing of a hospital ... I believe ... Someone please correct me if I am wrong !! :gd_icon:

i think it wasn't so much about that, but it was that he used those experiments to help get in some of the mind-sets he used to write the book. from what i've read about the "making-of", he participated in LSD and mescaline studies - and used mescaline to get into the mind-state for all the parts of the book about Chief (the Indian in the book who is deaf and dumb... or is he! ) I don't think he was admitted into the hospital, or anything, he just volunteered for the studies because he needed some cash, and once he realized what they were giving him, because he thought it was a lot of fun!

 well you weren't too off track! from what i've read, Kesey "borrowed" a lot of stuff from the research-facility (mainly LSD and STP, I think) and shared them with Ken Babbs and other Pranksters - this is where they all got their first taste of psychedelics, before they started getting a continual supply from the Mad Chemist and Owsley.

and i hope you weren't being sarcastic or i'm gonna have to beat some ass!!!

 hehehe i think it's the first time in my life i've ever scared anybody with threats of physical violence! now all my posts in PA&L about "human beings are inherently one with all existence, any violence would really only be hurting yourself, it's only an alienated society that causes people to act violently" are thrown out the window.

PS - Ripple don't ban me for threatening other members! i was just kidding!

check out Erowid's Ken Kesey Vault for a brief bio and links to other Kesey sites if you are interested in this great man!
