Chalk really a suitable pH buffer?

Like the kind of chalk you get from a pool hall, or a bowling ally, for keeping your hands nice and chalky? This can buffer pH in casing soil? - How much should i use by volume?

Well the FAQ says here http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/24215
"Crushed Oyster Shell - Used as a calcium supplement for birds. Good as a slow-release pH buffer in casings. Can be found at the pet store.
Limestone flour (Calcium carbonate, CaCO3, chalk (NOT blackboard chalk!)
Acts as a buffer agent in the casing formulation, rises the pH. . Used as feed supplement for cows and horses.

Hydrated Lime - Adjusting soil pH. Used as a faster-acting pH adjuster for casings. Hardware store or garden center.
For details on casing ingredients check this faq.
"

This says you can't use blackboard chalk, which is very simular to pool chalk, and bowling chalk - like the suggestions made on the "crushed coral" thread. So I guess stick with oyster shells...
