 deductions, in canada, pissing me off.

im finally working in a legit job again paying proper taxes and not working for idiots.
so heres a pic of my shit (croped and blacked out personal info).
im not so pissed about taxes. i dont mind paying if we get waht we pay for, which i dont think we do. anyway thats a different discussion. what kinda gets me oddly enough is the CPP and EI. CPP is Canada Pension Plan, and EI is Employment Insurance (UI-same thing). Im not saying they are bad (not saying they are good) what im saying is i dont want to pay into it as i would rather the money. im basically working 2 days for the government. anyway i would like to have the $60 every 2 weeks in my pocket, and i asked my boss and he jsut went off murming its impossible dont ask.
so my question is htis. is there any legal way to get this and not pay into it? or is it basically liek a tax and your stuck with it?
its not the $ taken away that gets me its the fact that im giving it to our current group of bandits.

No way around it. Your boss is right.
Count yourself lucky you don't also have to pay compulsory union dues, compulsory provincial helath program deductions, compulsory workman's compensation, compulsory Canadian government employee pension plan. At one point in my working life in Ontario I had all those taken off each paycheck as well.

was hoping you would answer this for me  thanks. i realise there are worse things in certain feilds/provinces but i still gotta bitch.
if you dont mind sharing about how much of your pay check wa giving to mandatory fees/taxes etc? not counting optional stuff liek extended health and whatnot.

The last full year I worked in Canada (Ontario) was 1987. I made just under 100,000 in that year. if I recall correctly it was around 98,500 but I might be off by as much as a grand. Back in 1987, a hundred grand Canadian was still considered a pretty decent amount of money. The money I actually received -- that I actually was able to put in my pocket (bank) was almost exactly 47,000.
I have no idea if these days I would be able to keep more of that. I haven't kept up with the Canadian income tax tables. I would be very surprised if taxes and deductions are less today than they were then, though.

You might also want to ask your boss if he has to make any matching contributions that you don't even know about. In America UI is paid by the employer and never appears on a paystub. And whatever appears on a pay stub for SS and Medicare is matched by your employer. These are payroll taxes most people aren't aware of. At firsy when I saw your stub I thought it was for 1 week and thought damn, that's not that bad, but when I realized it was for two weeks.....I wonder what amount of taxes would come out of a 1 week check with that gross.

20% aint that bad..
Its below average for that sort of pay here in the US. Plus pension and other "benefits" are additional.
With Health, Pension, Retirement and Union on top of Federal, State, FICA and so on. Its about 50% out of each check....
Consider yourself lucky.

the only things extra i have to pay are bills car shit etc... that is all im paying out of check to the government in this way. and of course the 15% tax i pay on everything else i buy, almost.
pink i now know why you moved... that is just theft, nothing more and nothing less.
ya i make shitty money  but i make good money for a young high school drop out. the alternative is illegal or minimum wage type jobs, and im done with both.

pink i now know why you moved... that is just theft, nothing more and nothing less.
That's the cost of having all of those nifty social programs....a lot of your money is going to be taken away from you if you work.
