Hi soulmotion, welcome to the Shroomery.

I can't help with your questions, but I can tell you that it's impossible to get high from handling psilocybian mushrooms. Hunting them is a lot of fun though; you were probably getting high on life.

As far as your potential Liberty Cap, I doubt it. There was a recent find of a mushroom resembling Panaeolina foenisecii from your general area, and if I were a betting man I'd say that's what you found; another possibility is Psathyrella. Of course no one here can make an ID with the info you have provided. If you want your mushroom IDed then give us all the info requested here:

The season here in the bay hasnt even really started yet. The heavy rains still have to come. the fungi will be out soon.

I would say we are pretty much in the midst of it now.

The recent fogs and high humidity will keep fungus growth at a good level

you may have had a flashback, sir. I pick mushrooms all the time. I have even tried to "pack a dip" of cyans for a possible slow release, and that didint work so I highly doubt that you could gewt high off holding them.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
