Aah ok thanx!
And if one uses spores from cloned/isolated mushrooms, is that still isolated too?

Ah so multiplying continues through cloning and not by spores, but after a while even teh spores will be affected and after 7 cloned flushes those spores will be more the same then before the first? Or is that not correct? Can one clone/ select on how the mycelium grows as well? I have the idea that agar people like rizo above cottonlike mycelium. But what is that difference now again? Sometiems one sees this pics of a petri with very cool structure. I like to see itm but why do people consider that (rhizomorphic??) as being better mycelium? Thanks again mister! EDIT: Also after a while one should get mutants after some, say 7 generations of, cloning??

There are two major types of mycelium , Rhizomorphic (strandy ,rope like )and tementose (cottony) . When growing a culture we want to issolate a healthy, prefferably rhizomorphic type of mycelium . In general it is said the rhizo typr growth is the fastest , most aggressive , and in most cases the most productive , most likely to form primordia . When you first see growth in a petri dish of mush myc , you will see both types(known as "sectoring") , as you go you cut out the rhizo growth and put on a new dish , as this grows out you do the same again until you have just one type of growth rhizo or tementose , or non sectoring . I hope this helps , and all interested and need to know the basics should get a copy of THE MUSHROOM CULTIVATOR , very wise investment and you'll never be sorry you got it .
-------------------- Any information I give is not intended to aide you in the production of potentialy illegal substances !None of my exp comes from growing illegal varities , so take it as you will . So with that said here is our mission statement . Then the priest fell into a trance or swoon,& said unto the Queen of heaven ; Write unto us the ordeals; write unto us the rituals; write unto us the law !

So when are you finished isolating? Is it when you can grow a plate out without any visible differences in any part of the mycelium?

I guess those guys finished about 11 yrs ago. basically yeah, look for sectoring after transfers, transfer sectors until they're perfect circles. cleaning & isolating on agar

Yeah, guess I didn't notice. Anyhow, it comes up when you hit the active topic icon. One thing I've found in the last eight years of the shroomery is someone is always gonna tell you you're in the wrong place or a few years late to the conversation, haha! Thanks for the answer though. It's much appreciated...

I guess. Personally, I wouldn't let it bother me too much.better than starting a new thread, you know? Some of those threads like the one linked above can be surprisingly hard to find. That's a good one though. Thanks.

Finding 10-15 year old threads, most of the time, is worse than finding nothing at all, because it will set you off in the wrong direction trying to do shit you don't need to be doing, spending money you don't have on a goal you might not actually reach.
Also for old threads this is my new favorite to use.
