Good, easy recipies in under 60 seconds
    #3412453 - 11/26/04 01:24 PM (19 years, 4 months ago)

:mushroom2:Hello everyone, i'm new to the shroomery! :mushroom2:

I'm throwing together an "under 60 seconds" cookbook.
Does anyone have any quick, easy recipies that taste good?

This is one of my favorites:
STUFFED MUSHROOMS
(this is an extremely variable recipie, fun to experiment with. find your favorite combo)

INGREDIENTS- (no amounts specified, make enough to fit your own specifications)

?Whole cap mushrooms(any kind that you can stuff, portabellas work nicely)
?Cheese(any kind, cheddar is good)
?Meat(mmmmm, beeef... [use whatever you like])
?Extras(add whatever you can fit; i like to add fresh diced peppers, garlic, onions, and red chanterelles)

PREPERATION
1.  Remove the stems from the caps and place the caps up-side-down on a plate(use a microwavable plate) .
2.  sprinkle some cheese in the bottom of the caps
3.  layer or mix the other ingredients into the caps (mix ingredients with more cheese for consistent cheesiness all the way through)
4.  Fill the caps up to the top with cheese and pack it in.

VERY simple, anyone can prepare this in seconds, now were ready to cook...

COOKING METHODS

"Under 60 Seconds" method:
Simply pop the plate in the microwave for 15-30 seconds (depending on the microwave). Some people don't like to use a microwave for cooking because of the suspected low quality of the meal, but i find "stuffed mushrooms" to be exceptionally delicious if cooked in a microwave (this is usually the only way I make it)

Other Cooking Methods:
You could just as easily fry or bake the caps (but probably not in under 60 seconds)
Its important that you remember to wait until after you cook the caps to add the ingredients.
After the caps are done cooking (however you decided to do it), fill them up with the ingredients in the same way as described above, then put them in the microwave for about 20 seconds (to melt the cheese)

Almost forgot, these are also really good covered with sauce
(again, it doesn't matter what kind, experiment! good old garlic/butter sauce is excellent)

You should publish a book called 60 second meals and sell it to college kids

I've actually been looking for a site, or book I guess, with stuff like this. Usual recipes on the net have 342 different ingredients in which I consistently only have 2, salt and pepper. An easy recipe with few ingredients would be more useful than fast ones imo.

And I'm in college, go figure.

are you telling me microwaving something reduces the nutritional value?

French bread pizza.

Slice a french baguette in half lengthwise, spread a load of bolognese sauce on it and add meat and veg of your choice and top with cheese. Bake at 400F until cheese is melted and bubbly.

You could try microwaving it but I wouldn't recomend it.

I have a few, but before I post quick question:
- prep time of 60 seconds or is that including cook time?
