Fruiting - providing light w/out contamination
    #3512726 - 12/17/04 10:31 AM (12 years, 3 months ago)

Hey, thanks for deciding to help answer my question.
I have a rubbermaid grow chamber but it has folding lids on it (with a hinges)... and had previously applied plexi glass to the surface of the grow chamber so that light could enter in from the top. I think, because of the wholes in the top crated from the hinges (separation of plexi glass from chamber) I got a wierd green mold. I pourd salt on it and discontinued using the plexi glass. NOW, i just let light come in from the sides (it is somewhat transparent). I generally have it in light (both sunlight and 25w bulb) for 14 hrs / day. IS this good (it's a cubensis strain).
Ok thanks for your help. Much appreciated. Im always on AIM, feel free.

Green mold could be from many things. Heh, you need a top to keep humidity though. Use saran wrap.

First off use "lexan" it does not warp when exposed to high humidity climate required for mush growing .
As far as your light situation , light coming in from the sides will cause mushies to grow in all sorts of weird angles , even some laying across sub making them not good for printing ,if soil and such all over the caps and gills .
If having troubles with chamber being sealed off ... save up and make a new one that you can control air flow(gaps and holes ) , and lighting features .

12/12 light is good for pinning, and even good for just plain fruiting, but i drop my light back to 6/18 after the pinset is done.

You didnt get mold from a few cracks around the top of your chamber. My PMP's always purposefully dont have a lid that fits tight and is a little loose.

You got green mold because your grow area/house/you aren't clean enough. If you dont dump the contaminated cakes/casings and clean well you will never get rid of the mold.
