I've been wondering lately -- seeing as I've been posting to the Shroomery BBs for a while now and will be picking my first shroom pretty soon (:D) -- what exactly is the danger of posting about illegal activities here on the Shroomery? If I brag that I (and not a FOAF, my monkey, my great uncle's cephalopagic conjoined twin, whatever) have got a big bag of heroin under my bed (I don't) and some cop reads my post, is that enough to justify a warrant to search my place (even if I'm just bullshitting)? It doesn't seem like a major concern since the police have no way to connect me to any real name, address or even IP address (unless they seize the Shroomery's server or sumpthin), but I wonder if posting "sensitive" information endangers the Shroomery in any way. Anyway, I thought I should ask.

I cant speak for the shroomery but this was brought up at the ?ole Lycaeum a while ago. What I got form the discussion was something like this:
You can?t get busted for posting, because it is a protected 1st amendment right. If they catch you doing something naughty however, they can follow your e-trail, and use the things you posted as evidence against you in court. I would be more than a little surprised if cops weren?t looking these boards over with fine toothed combs. Making lists, looking up addresses. As long as you don?t do anything illegal. You don?t have anything to worry about.
Maybe this is a little paranoid, maybe not. I have been trying to research the ways that the DEA has operated over the last few years, and aside from some really general info it is hard for the public to really know how they work. I have not found any reference to the DEA busting posters or webt sites other than a few obvious busts (shipments of packages , etc.) I would like to know what they do. Hmmm I have a lot more reading to do I suspect.

few advices: don't grow at home, if you post pics of your crops don't keep it at home or destroy it, never take pic of yourself with your crop, eating a mush or wherever.
When you take pic be careful to not include anything of the room where you grow....
and last but not least...DON'T TELL A SOUL!!!

So, no danger in making incriminating statements except in case you're ever arrested later on. What about danger to the Shroomery? I observed a couple of Shroomerites a while back, flaming some stranger for putting the Shroomery at risk with his post, but couldn't see what was wrong with it, apart from the fact that he cudn't spel wurth shit.

i always thought that they couldnt do anything if you were posting facts, or opinions, etc. But i thought saying something like "i have a kilo of heroin under my bed" could get you raided, just like walking into a bar and having a cop overhear you saying the same thing. If it ever got to court they would probably give the same example. So why not be a little paranoid, just in case, and not give the full details to what you are doing and keeping sensitive things to yourself.
