Vodka Tek?

I was doing a bit of research in old DD posts about green mold and came across something called the 'vodka tek' that will control the green menace. The only info I could get is to mix the casing with 5% vodka : H2O. I tried to search the shroomery but couldn't. Has anyone tried this? If it works, why does it?

Vodka is alcohol, which is often used as a disinfectant.

5% wodka means a total alcohol percentage of 0.05 * 40 = 0.2% alchohol. A solution with 0.2% alchohol had absolutely no desinfecting effect.
