Some names?
    #3510384 - 12/16/04 08:37 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

I just got my spores from lilshopofspores today now i need to do a lil shopping. What are some of the names of vermiculite for the culture mix and for perlite on the bottom of the terranium to hold the moisture.?

Any names. They are called simply vermiculite and perilite...any brands will do. Perilite can be found much easier..even at places like Home Depot. Verm you'll have a harder time finding..look for garden centers and landscaping places. Its not the gardening season right now either so verm is very hard to find. You can order it online fairly cheap. I've been getting bags from bghydro..the 1 cu foot bag is about 30 quarts. I like the 6 cube bag though..good if you need alot of verm and to stock up.

And its "casing mix" not culture mix. Liquid cultures involve injecting spores into sugar water to create liquid mycelium.

"life is like a drop of rain getting closer and closer to falling into a lake, and then when you hit the lake there is no more rain drop, only the lake."

Growing with bags, start to finish (including my new grain and substrate prep)
Anyone looking to start bulk tubs/mono tubs/shotgun hybrids? Good tubs to use..

home depot has it all, at least where i am. verm and peat moss and perlite are there. perlite is like $7.50; verm is like $8.00; and peat moss is around $7.00. hope this helps.

Home depot?

You're not like the others. You like the same things I do. Wax paper, boiled football leather... dog breath. We're not hitch-hiking anymore, we're riding!

I've found Verm at Lowes for only 2-3 bucks, but i've never seen it at home depot and I've found it at Calloway's for 6-10 bucks.
