Cannot get brown rice flour

I have looked for brown rice flour at my local stop & shop and walgreens with no luck. Unfortunatly, I am not yet old enough to drive myself to a health food store, which is 45 minutes from my house. If nobody has any ideas on where else to get some, what other substances could I use instead? Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks.

You can get whole brown rice at the supermarket. Grind it up in a blender or coffee mill.

Yes you can grind it up , it will have a "chunky texture". Or you could try a whole grain cake ala the 9er tek... peace

Before Spanky was old enough to drive, he used to blend up whole grain ORGANIC brown rice...it worked fine. I heard somewhere that you can use Chex cerial too, but wouldn't trust that.

In my friends opinion whole brown rice works very good. Just cook it as per directions, then add enough vermiculite to keep everything from sticking and then pressurecook, innoculate and your on your way.

I like to use brown rice flour too and also have problems finding it. I order it on the net at www.Akins.com - costs a little more because of shipping charges, but it gets the job done nicely!

i used a blender to grind up my whole grain brown rice it came out to a foulry sand type texture. I also had abnormally slow mycelium growth. Could it be because the rice wasnt ground up enough?
