well i think they mean 3-6 inches not feet, and that 6 inch with the thorns, so more like 3 inches.

and yes they will freeze, really good point to make to all plant people, if it is freezing or in the forties where you live and the cacti are coming to you in the mail,

stop.

you must hold off until spring or until there will be no more freezing going on.

i live in a cold place too, and we will not be getting any more plant shipments, unless absolutely necessary, for 2 or 3 more months.

the shitty thing is, people will still ship to Michigan even if its supposed to be 20 below. not real plant dealers though.

it sucks, but if you get them now i promise you will regret it.

That is a super price for seedlings that large.

I would also put off ordering any plants until the spring comes. It would suck to order some and find they froze on the way.

I know I have a list of plants I want, and I'm in the South... but still I need to wait till April to make sure.

i was just about to call them and question them about that cactus for two reasons:

1. that is not a t. pachanoi they have pictured for sale.
2. i doubt they are selling 3-6 foot cacti for that price and i know they are not selling 3-6" tall x 4" wide san pedro.

i assumed they meant 4 inches across, not in diameter and with thorns maybe?? real nice web description they have a half dozen people all confused over what should be listed by pot size not by cacti size, cause pot size dictates cacti size, when buying wholesale.

ok, the seedlings they are selling are 2 inches. they said that the 3-6'x4" is the size the cactus can eventually reach. i know that they can easily grow larger than this.

they are saying that the cactus pictured is in fact a san pedro. they claim that the cactus is a cold weather strain and that is why it looks so different from other pachanois. i've ordered a lot of pachanoi from different places and i've never seen one that looked like the one they have pictured. i could be wrong, but i don't think that's any strain of pachanoi. i don't doubt at all that it is a species of trichocereus though.

that is what i thought at first. i clicked the original pic (which zoomed out to the pic i posted). the spines looked really long for a seedling that size, even for a peruvianus. so, i became unsure of what it was. i still think it could very possibly be a peruvianus, but i'm not sure.

I agree, heres a picture of one of M S Smith's peruvianus

http://forum.thenook.org/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=163985

I've also never seen a seedling with such developed spines. It most certainly is not a pachanoi. I can't remember who said it but it is believed that peruvianus was the original San Pedro of the wild and the cactus known as Trichocereus pachanoi is probably a cultivated hybrid, bred for its short spines and ease of handling and shipping.

I much prefer the variety of peruvianus and the attractive spines myself. I'd order if live plants could come into my country

If they're 2-inch seedlings, that isn't such a good price.

Try Plant Planet. I've ordered cacti from several vendors and Plant Planet had by far the best grown plants. PM me and I'll relay my experiences in more depth.

http://www.plant-planet.net/

I would hold off on having them shipped to Michigan until February. Unfortunately, that doesn't leave many options if you need the plants right now.
