Ooowee my boys are growing!

Hey All!
Yesterday I needed some help IDing some cubensis I found, besides the two big ones I also nabbed these young ones.

Now these little guys had been in a ziploc bag for about 6hrs getting bashed around the work truck and then another hour being flogged around on the ride home on my trail bike, so a fair bit later after I'd taken pictures and stuffed around for the post I thought "I wonder if they would continue to grow?" They were a bit dehydrated but still had a nice gold color so I whipped up a self watering unit out of a coke bottle and a rag then mixed up some vermiculite and potting mix to about the consistancy of cow poo and jammed 'em in! Gave them a sprinkle of water to wet the skin and then went to bed.
Got up to goto work and the crazy little units had grown an inch over night.

I had no idead something as fragile as a mushroom could tough it out like that, I guess it's only the larger mushrooms that could. I suppose I'll find out if cubensis are like tomato plants that come back twice as hard after a near death experience. Well I hope this is some good new that all is not lost if you can get the youngsters in the dirt in time to keep them going. :mushroom2:

That's awesome.. I didn't know you could just plant a mushroom like that.. The mycelium must of stayed intact when you picked it or something.. Awesome!!

I can't realy tell if the mycelium is spreading, they didn't grow huge and looked on their way out so I picked them and left the base in the substrate, I'll update if it does continue expanding. I never considered the natural mycelium where I got them, would it be possible to transplant that? Does mycelium go dormant when it dries?, like in those mushroom starter kits you can get from the supermarket. Something I'll investigate if I ever get the chance again.
Have a good Christmas guys!
