Stems Splitting

Just posting to see if anyone would know what would cause the stipes (stems) of mushrooms to split? For example say they are still closed caps and are about 3 inches tall. What would cause them to all of a sudden split open and continue to grow? Almost as if someone has taken a knife and stabbed it through the middle of the stem. I have never seen this before and was wondering what could be causing this? Any suggestions would be appreciated!
will post a pic later for refrence.
info: Small clear rubbermaid bin 3 cased trays inside... no perlite, just misted until pins arrived and then stopped. Fan regularly 3-4 times daily. Humidity stays perfect... everythings pretty much perfect... wtf?
oh well...
oh yeah... is happening in 2 trays B+ and Malabar. So im thinking its not strain related and just something stupid i haven't considered

It's cool, man. It's just a retarded shroom is all. In my last batch, I had one grow with a split stem AND with it's cap growing inside out. You'll see some freaky shit.

Wow that is one cool mutant, though i would doubt this has much of a (if any) negative impact on the potency or the final "reward". Though 5 shrooms for the awesome picture man!

I think the problem is humidity. Foaf had some split when the humidity was low. Look at what you said. You misted until pins arrived and then stopped, but you fan 3-4 times a day. How could the humidity be perfect if you are fanning 3-4 times a day and you aren't adding any moisture? because according to you, you stopped misting as soon as pins appeared. You need to mist the sides of the rubbermaid to get moisture back in the air after you fan.

shobimono... nope that can't be it... sorry i wasn't more specific...
*I stopped misting the casings*
I still mist the rubbermaid but not directly on the casings, because I did not want abhorts... plus the casings are perfectly moist they aren't pulling away from the sides at all and most of the mycelium fuzz has water droplets on it... like tiny tiny ones... so got any other suggestions???
