does this cake look dry? (pic)
    #3503059 - 12/15/04 12:45 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Its been about 9 days since I put this cake in the terrarium, and still no pinning. I noticed that the light I am using seems to give off fluxuating levels of heat. One night it seemed to be giving off quite a bit of heat and another night it was only giving off a little amount. I could feel the warmth on the terrarium it was that warm. Is it too hot for the cake?

that cake doesnt look dry to me! but some strains tend to respond and pin faster to a slightly cooler temperature!! if you could get the temp to drop inside the grow box it might give the pins the signal to start up!

You got what looks like the beginning of knots on that cake, so pinning should come shortly.

newbie is right there are about 12 or so knots on top of that cake in the pic. IMO ya should double cased it cause water delivery is a pain without doing it.

Too hot is higher then 78. Buy a thermo/rh meter!

Actually I prefer my growing chamber between 70-74. Lol im a big noob but its what I feel is the best.

Often when I read people have problems with pinning their growing chamber is too hot. With 70-74 you dont need coldshocking either imho. (there is no winter between summer and autumn either  )

Okay nm this post anymore. Since the light gives off heat, and exceeds the already 24 degree celcius room temperature to about 30 degrees inside the terrarium. All i have to do is open my window about 1/3 of the way and keep my door closed to allow the room temp to lower to a hopefully 18 degrees. When the light heats up the terrarium it will be at about 24 degrees. Does this sound like it will work? Oh and on the one big knot? on the top now has about 10 little spikes coming out of it. What is that?

between 18 (night) and 24 (day) you should be fine.

the knot and spikes, show a pic.

30 is far too high for fruiting........

No, see when I kept my window closed, my room was heated from the heater, and since I had the light going at the same time it got very warm near the terrarium. I opened my windows to cool my room down, and left them open. The heat from the light will give the surrounding area around the terrarium enough heat.
