No free speech in the UK?
    #3502884 - 12/15/04 11:02 AM (11 years, 11 months ago)

http://cnsnews.com/viewforeignbureaus.as...r20041215d.html

the leader of a far right political party in Britain was arrested on suspicion of incitement to racial hatred after he was secretly filmed calling Islam a....." VICIOUS, WICKED" religion.
Islamic groups have welcomed the measure.

Ah good old Nick Griffin he never ceases to amaze me...

Not sure what you're getting at with the title of this thread, the BNP or British National Party aren't exactly one of the most respected political parties in Britain.

If i'm not mistaken they recently had a special speaker at one of their meetings. I think his name was Le Pen, which struck me as odd at the time. I didn't think Le Pen was a British name...

Anyways moving on swiftly, your link doesn't seem to be working.

BBC News
EDIT: Whoops, wrong link.....

Yes we are very envious of the much higher level of free speech and other personal freedoms that you in the US enjoy.

It will always be controversial when someone who represents a country alienates a certain group of people in that country.

There is plenty of free speech in Britain, moreso than the United States. Do you have any idea how long Abu Hamza al-Masri shot his mouth off before he finally got thrown into prison.

Gazzbut, maybe you had aught to come over here and find out for your self. You might be surprised to see no bars on the windows, no commando units on every street corner and no tanks rolling down the street.

Come now Gazz, with the new clause they are proposing for the Anti-Terrorism bill what you just said could be true...

Let's protect Muslims from the evils of comedy and Christmas with these new laws, it surely is the best way of integrating them into our society...

Shit

I haven't seen the video so what he said lacks context. Though none of the main members of the BNP publicly advocate violence and racial hatred, a lot of its members do partake in the odd black/Muslim/gay bash..

The BBC documentary though one sided, come on it's hard not to be when dealing with the BNP, was quite shocking...

As for 'Political Correctness' you should count yourself lucky, we're ruled by zealous anti-white Labour MP's. Councils and shopping malls are no longer allowed to celebrate Christmas, put up Christmas or even organise Ch- almost used that evil word again parties.

Though we're still allowed to put up our 'Winter Festival' lights.

 the UK.... Wait, am I allowed to say that

Good riddance. Christmas pisses me off.

Apparently, although I can't find a link, the BNP recently accidentally booked a black speaker/entertainer or something for one of their events. They said he "sounded white on the phone".

LOL, If only there were a hangbag smiley.... I read The Independant thank you very much so there!

I admit the situation is not as bad as my previous comments made out, but the fact remains certain councils such as Birminghams are instructing their employees not to put up Christmas decorations for fear of offending members of other religions.

Councils are still allowed to decorate the streets they are simply not allowed to call them 'Christmas' lights.

Even our illustrious Catholic leader has had the words 'Merry Christmas' removed from some of his cards.

I'm not a fan of Catholocism or Christmas, my beef is with this Government and its desire to remove or ban anything that could be considered remotely offensive.

Some of our best comedians have come out against the changes to the law being proposed, though i'm sure the Guardian has branded these racists too...

BTW: BLUNKETT IS RESIGNING!!!  :crazy2:

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I agree that people need a kick up the arse if they are offended by something like Christmas, but the BNP is a different kettle of fish. I say let them have their political party just so long as their rhetoric doesn't endanger people by encouraging the beating up of non-white folks.
