My wife just got me some great books
    #3502796 - 12/15/04 08:14 AM (19 years, 3 months ago)

"Food of the Gods" and "DMT: The spirit Molecule"

I haven't read them all yet, but what I have read is good.

The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of life, your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away. But they're not punishing you, they're freeing your soul. So, if you're frightened of dying and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away, but if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth...

Sweet, tell us how you like them. I've been wanting to read DMT: SM for a long time, but it keeps getting pushed down on my book-list.

Both are excellent books. True eye openers. Next get anything by Robert Anton Wilson.

Illuminatus! Trilogy, Cosmic Trigger, and Prometheus Rising are the books you should try and get first.

Have fun.

Interesting books. McKenna's good, but can be a bit boggy in places - his argument for the legalisation of drugs is one of the best written though! Fun to see how Bill Hicks did the comedy version of a lot of McKenna's arguments!

Get High Priest by Leary and Electric Kool Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe next - I found they give a good counter balance of views of the psychedelic drugs explosion of the 60s.

What's more expensive: getting the stuff to actually trip or the library you build up?

Anything that gets people reading is fine by me.

I read both of those, and they are definitely worth the time to read them.

It's good, but it's not entirely accurate. On the Bus: The Complete Guide to the Legendary Trip of Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters and the Birth of the Counterculture by Paul Perry and Ken Babbs is a much more accurate depiction of the scene, and A Long Strange Trip, the history of the Grateful Dead also gives a really good description.  :gd_icon:

i agree! i certainly didn't agree 100% with the thesis that either book draws, but both certainly caused me to think about things...

i wish i could've been in Dr. Strassman's study, as well! imagine - free, pure, and legal DMT! (the only downside would be having to sit in a laboratory while taking it, and answering a bunch of mundane questions after the experience - but i still think it would be worth it!)
