Interesting newbie problem

OK this is my 1st grow and Iused the PF tec method with BRF. My jars are 100% surface colonized but I don't htink the insides are done yet because some parts havnt really shrunk yet like the fully colonized parts. It has taken about 2 months for them to colonize this far, I think because I had the lids on super tight and left the tape on the holes. I removed the tape a few weeks ago and cracked open the jars and they started growing great again. My problem is I might be going on vacation this weekend so I asked in another thread what to do and they said wrap in tin foil and stick in the fridge. I was waiting until I thought they were 100% colonized though. Well last week I noticed these little grayish twig looking things that might have been shrooms but I thought it might just be the vermiculite. Well today I have about a 3.5 inch shroom growing from the top of the jar along the side down to the bottom. it looks healthy so that makes me happy but I'm afraid if I can still put them in the fridge for 2 weeks or not. any help is greatly appreciated, and sorry for the long post

the fridge puts the mycelium into survival mode and it stops growing, well grows super slow. But i don't think that you can do it with a mushroom in there, it'd end up rotting and contaming ur jars, id say u could leave it in there for a couple of days until it matures but it u leave it to long you might have a problem, unless the cold slows down the rotting proccess, gl, later

and yeah, 2 months? lol, somunds like you temps. were off and that you probably had a lil bit of neg. pressure in you jar, but next time don't "crack" open the jars....thats jus asking for a contam, fully colonized cakes a Very resistant to contams but that doesnt mean you should let down ur guard. i'm not sure if its a tek, maybe someone can give u a link....instead of making 4 holes in your jar you should jus make a 1/4 hole and stuff it with polyfil, then cover is with aluminum foil (so that no water gets in while u boil), then boil, then inoculate through that 1 hole, and then put 2 coffee filters over the top and secure them with a rubberband, lots of people do this for grains but it can be used for brf cakes as long as you dont make the hole to big(to big allows to much air flow, causing mositure loss) well gl...

yeah, my temps might have been a little below the desired. Lately it's been really cold and the room it is in only has 1 vent, I just held the jars and they were really cold so i put them directly under the vent. Should I try and take out the shroom that is in there? They were growing great for the 1st week or 2, then they really slowed down.
So do you think the only way to keep these going is to birth them a.s.ap.? Or could they posssible survive in the fridge for 2 weeks if i remove the mushroom?

They could survive of course, but, if they're pinning and have little mushrooms everywhere then you should birth, inverto or in w/e terrium you have...that one mushroom can be taken out but i'd use a glovebox or someplace really sterile, like i said, fully colonized cakes are very contam. resistant , but i'd try to get my hands on a glovebox or use a huge zip lock bag.Sterilyze the bag and then take the mushroom out inside the bag, and sterlyze your hands if you do so. Gl
