    #3497231 - 12/14/04 02:47 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

when people close to me or even strangers are happy, i get upset and jealous. i can't imagine people being jealous like i am. maybe we all are? no, i think its just me. are you jealous?

I tend to get green with envy, not necessarily jealous. Maybe it's the same thing. But I know what you're saying. Im positive you're not alone.

All the best

weird, I was having these exact same thoughts today. Whats worse is that I often take pleasure in other people's misfortunes. Its sick, but I cant control it.

When I analyze myself I realize that this feeling stems from deep seeded insecurities. I need counseling.

i've gone that route, but everything is static and will invitably change. don't get me wrong, my friends are the best i've ever had. i i'm still working on getting over my own insecurities, which is my thought on why i feel jealous.

the only thing wrong with this scenario is that x supernovas your serotonin receptors in your brain and as you may already know, serotonin is what causes you to get "natural" happiness out of everyday life and accomplishments, so if you burn these out, you may only make this condition the worse for wear. try doing something normal that you enjoy doing e.g. hiking bouldering or just reading a book, but i find that activities with physical strain tend to bleed out some of these poisonous attitudes and help to clear my mind of any negative thoughts. good luck and i hope you find your needed happiness within yourself.peace.

I think most of the time jealousy comes from not being able to see another person's suffering or emphathize with them. You feel that for some reason their situation is intrinsicaly good and yours is not. That is almost always not so, it's not easy being anybody if you are that person. Also, believing that your happiness is a zero-sum game with someone else is a problem as well. Other people are the most rewarding thing in life so other's happiness should make you happier than your own short term contentment.

2. "We were feeling pretty good so we decided to smoke a few bowls..."
3. "I had to be real quiet because my parents were asleep upstairs..."
