beginner q's....?
    #349634 - 06/26/01 10:08 PM (22 years, 3 months ago)

A couple questions for anyone who knows the answers...

1) The mushrooms I picked have pearly bonish-white stalks with the bottom halves being white (formerly fuzz)...this is normal, I'm assuming? Someone confirm please.

2)Also...if I accidentally disturb the mushrooms around the one I'm picking but not pull them out of the cake, will it destroy or inhibit further growth? (also if a mushroom's stalk or cap is slightly damaged, torn, etc...should i just go ahead an dpick that shroom, mature or not?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

1)Fuzzy bases are caused by too high humidity.
2)Damaged caps will be ok to pick now or mature. Disturbed pins may abhort depending on the strength of attachment to the substrate.

Tired of pimping yourself on the corner to afford spores? Well throw out that red dress and go to the FSR, for spores even you can afford.

If you pick a matured shroom and damage a nearby one in a manner that, say, a celery stalk skin tears, it will be fine...just as long as the base doesn't become dislodged from the substrate.

In the event that you do badly damage a shroom, it should become evident very quickly..often times within just a few hours.
