galerinas growing by my blue ringers? Pic help ID
    #3495783 - 12/14/04 05:08 AM (11 years, 11 months ago)

I know its a poor pic but these shrooms look like galerinas to me. They where growing on woodchips as well in berkelly, veil unusually low on the stem.(center of stem instead of closer to cap). Some margins beginning to turn up, wide umbonate. Rusty orange gills, and very small. Cuople inches tall and 1-2 centemeter wide cap.

And These where growing by my house (further east bay). These where on mulchy would chips and as pins resembled cyanescens. As adults they resembled them too. very wavy margin. Chestnut cap fading to tanish/yellow with age. Growing in huge cluster, about 2 inches off the ground. But somewhat smaller than cyans. Very britle to the touch.

If you notice any orange veils, that screams Galerina. Take a print should come out a rusty brown/orange color. Galerinas also bruise black over time.

Like Gumby said. Especially with LBMs you need to get used to making spore prints to make sure you don't get any Galerinas. Galerinas have been known to grow alongside active mushrooms. Reject any mushrooms that produce rusty brown spore prints.

Happy mushrooming!

Actually I do, I even wrote a whole post that youd be better off air drying all your pickings cap down on paper to make sure they all comeout purple brown or black in coplandia pickings. Unfortunatly these where half dry when picked getting a decent print outta these guys wouldve been impossible

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Here is Galerina autumnalis

And galerina marginata

And Galerina venenata.

And the final one,

Conocybe filaris

Those are the deadly mushrooms which grow in and around P. cyanescens and P. stuntzii. And at times they mimic the two aspecies as seen in the photos below.

The top image is Galerina autumnalis and the bottom image is Psilocybe cyanescens.

And in this one:

the top image is Galerina marginata and the bottom one is Psilocybe stuntzii.

Are you serious?

See your other little post on cube games which I just responded to. A lesson in scanning shroom images.
