sterilization

Ive been boiling my jars for about an hour and a half and it worked for the first couple of times, but my last few batches have gotten bacterial and cob web contams. This has never happened before(maybe luck??) Anyways what is the next best method without shelling out a Benjamin for a pressure cooker?? Would baking the jars at 400 F for an hour work??

Baking is just like cooking.
It?s the pressure in the PC that makes the water boil at a higher temperature and therefore sterilizes better.
Go for a PC if you can afford.

Ive tried syringes from both PF and the chicks..PF did better though

Go to ebay and look for a Pressure Cooker. You could probably get one that will be good for you for like 15.00

Tired of pimping yourself on the corner to afford spores? Well throw out that red dress and go to the FSR, for spores even you can afford.

I would think that baking the jars would mess with the water ratio - not as much as microwaving, but definately more than steaming or pressure cooking. I don't know about you, but Spanky puts a rag underneath the jars in the steamer so that less water evaporation occurs. He's not rich enough to have a pressure cooker ;-)
