Anybody have an iRobot Roomba?

They are so cool, but I want to know if they actually work or not.

I have one!

Yes they work very well, I have an older version but I've heard the newer one's have been programmed much more intelligently, actually remembering approximate boundaries and where it has already gone. Should make it much more efficient. The only thing is it has difficulty moving over altitude changes, so if you have a rug on your floor that is thicker than say 2/3 of a cm, you'll need to come up with some alternate solution to clean the rug.

Plus, you can become good friends with your roomba, it even listens when you talk to it! :-)

And plus, it makes a cool transportation mode for your cat.

If it is life that you feel you are missing I can tell you where to find it.  In the law courts, in business, in government.  There is nothing occurring in the streets. Nothing but a dumbshow composed of the helpless and the impotent.    -Cormac MacCarthy

I got one as a gift back when they first came out.

It's been sitting unused for at least five years.

They work great if you have one room with low level carpeting and not a lot of shit on the ground for it to run over or bump into.

I live in a sort of split-level place where you go up or down two steps to get to different rooms.  Roomba doesn't like steps.

I also leave way too much shit on the floor for ROomba to handle.  in fact,  there's still pieces of a sock stuck in the beast from last use.  You need to already be a neat freak or it will spend more time choking on stuff than it does actually cleaning.

Waste of money in my opinion.  I wonder how much I can get for a used one.
