Im going to use the guide from here http://www.erowid.org/plants/mushrooms/mushrooms_mmgg.shtml
Here is what im going to do use half pint jars with brown rice flour water and vermicutlite mix with dry vermiculite on that sealed in jar with 4 holes then tops covered with aluminum foil fill PC with water till halfway to jars then cook at 15 psi for 45 mins let cool for 3-5 hours open inject spores about 1 cc per jar distributed in four diffrent holes let culture grow in dark 80 degree area probly a box with blankets for 1-2 weeks
then open rubbermaid box that was cleaned with 50/50 water bleach and filled with perlite and water added to one inch from top of soil cover up and open 2 times a day for 5 min to allow air flow and lighted 4-5 hours while being kept at 80% humidity and about 70-80 degrees F for a month or two till fruiting is complete?
My questions are this.
1.Is vermiculite the same as perlite? So i can save money by using same bag by putting vermiculite in jars and then the rest in the chamber?
2.If i get a tub should i cut a hole in the top then glue plastic wrap to cover the hole so light can get it? Or will a farley clear top be ok with my rooms light?
3. Should i put a Air pump with air stone in the bottom with the perlite and a heater from a fish tank? My room is fairly cool about 60 degrees.
These are the dia grams for my box http://img117.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img117&image=t13wl.png
With the pump and heater if needed http://img114.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img114&image=t27aa.png

If I recall the ideal incubation temp is 85 for cubensis. http://www.shroomery.org/index/the/default/par/23276
WHOA there. Perlite and Vermiculite are SO not the same thing. Once you have bags of both in your shopping cart you'll see they're not the same thing. And actually perlite is cheaper than vermiculite (at least where I got it). But ya, don't try and cut corners on your first grow.
Walmart, go there and look at their CLEAR rubbermaid tubs with clear tops.

1. Perlite is not the same thing as vermiculite, if it were it might just have the same name. Perlite is made at something like 6000 degrees with the help of volcanoes, and vermiculite comes from a mineral. I wouldn't try taking any short cuts on that one. 2. Mushrooms don't need that much light to trigger of the hormonal response, which causes them to produce mushrooms. Easiest thing to do is just buy a Clear Rubbermaid tub....or at least a clear top. It should save you the hassle of making something for light to go through. 3. Your third questions I'm not gonna dabble with since I am not familiar with doing it this way. I just use perlite for humidification, with a heat pad under the tub, gets it the right temp and the RH going. Good luck with all that.. Chris

I got the "95 qt Latchables" from Rubbermaid. It looks a whole hell of alot, but not exactly, like this http://images.containerstore.com/MEDIA/ProductCatalog/16496/16496.jpg
Have you considered tub-in-tub? It can make life easier and the only added expense is really $6 for a second tub.

I use the wal mart version of the bubble wands they are cheaper than the actual "Wand" version and move they air and water around just as good. No heater in the perlite unless you want a possible fire.if your house is cold like mine is, then do one of the following A.) heater pad under tub (cant regulate temp as accurate as you would like) or B.) Use a tub in tub method (which works very well.) or C.) get a space heater and heat the room up.
As for the lid ?. I went to home depot and bought some plexi glass and siliconed it to the top of a lid I cut. It works good and is easier to view than the coudy lids that come with the bins.
Good luck -Odd
