I'm a newbie to cultuvation and am just about to birth cakes from my first batch, but I think i may have some contams. Here goes. Some of my cakes were deffinately bad and were discarded but others looked good except for a faint blueish ring that formed in the mycellium. Otherwise they look so good and are forming great pins. I really don't want to chuck them and was hoping that this was something natural? I can get pics if that would be helpful.
P.S. If this question has already been answered I am sorry I couldn't find anything like it.
Keep on doing what you're doing, the blue ring could have been caused by a ring or moisture or dryness, merely bruising the mycelium. Keep an eye on it, though, and make sure it doesn't get bigger or change texture.
