How are....
    #3490208 - 12/13/04 10:25 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

...all the folks I used to see in the Pub all the time! I miss mndfreeze and Adom and Phishgrrl and Ellemy and bf6...and...others, where are you guys?!

I'm so lonely for Shroomery lovin' after 4 months of abstinence.

Elle! Glad to hear college is treating you well...today is my last day of classes for the semester...and it's my second to last semester of all, which is fuh-reaky.  I have a paper due Friday, two finals next Monday and then it's just six months until I graduate.  Things are going really well, I'm going to the circus on Friday and we're baking brownies with kind bud for the occasion.

My only big news is that I'm definitely planning on moving to Japan in a year and a half...should be awesome.

Nice to meet you Jay!

Nice to meet you too .... Robot. When you move to Japan are you going to still be on the shroomery some? I hate meeting new people and then not being able to say hello to them once in a while.

Well I hope so. That won't be till the end of July 2006 so you can hang on till then. Takes a lot of planning to move to Japan when you plan on staying there for a few years.

Cool. Just wondering. Didn't, for some reason, see the year and a half part. By The Way are you moving there for a job or just for entertainment. I have always wanted to go visit Japan I have an Uncle there and he works for Toyota. I just never get around to asking him, by way of email, If I can come see him.

I cannot wait until I'm at that point with my schooling...must be ultra-exciting to know that you've made it that far.

Oh, and why Japan?  Just wondering because my cousin lives there now, Navy Seal and married father of 2.  He went there for the military and never looked back.

And Jetta, glad to hear things worked out, hun.

My girlfriend and I both had this unhealthy obsession with the idea of Japan and Japanese culture before we met each other and now after talking about it for like a year and a half we've done a lot of research and there is a huge market for teaching English in Japan. In fact, there's even a gov't program for it:

www.jetprogramme.org

They pay for your apartment and you get a nice sized salary per year (about 30,000 dollars which isn't as much there as it is here but is still a good amount). And you get free Japanese lessons. My major in college is English and American Literature so I think I'll hopefully be a shoe-in...I graduate in May, then I want to take intro to Japanese and a class on teaching before heading over there.

I am just fascinated by Japanese art and their entire perspective on life...I think all cultures exist based on certain binaries, like everything humans do is binary and set up in opposites and the Japanese are so emblematic of that: nature/technology, order/chaos, formality/emotion..
