Shrooms around the tennessee area....
    #3489811 - 12/13/04 07:21 AM (12 years, 1 month ago)

From august - november I was an avid mushroom hunter. But I failed to once find a psychoactive mushroom. Am I going in wrong season or area?

Read
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/2263556/an/0/page/0

Then read FAQs.
Find out which mushrooms grow in your state.
Do a seach on those species.
There is your answer.

If it makes you feel better almost no one here found actives their fist year of hunting. SE Tennessee is the best but I'd start in mid-July.
The "Tennessee area" is a rather vast contruibution to the idea machine.

Psilocybe caerulipes has been reported from West Virginia as early as April. They are however very rare.

i realize that, but i haven't been able to nail down the right time to search, so finding them is even harder.

i've only seen one find of these since i started coming to the shroomery, and i believe it was the second only find of them... it was in virginia...

-Indeed- very rare- to which I might add that we need to put up a reward for this elusive vagrant.  I think everyone on the east coast needs to pound the pavement for these this comming season- I think that we must misunderstand something of their principal habitat, and I think that when they are found more commonly we will understand what that element is.  I certainly don't think they are as common on beech/maple- whatever along riversides as they are reported to be- I bet they are cheifly a woodchip lover in manmade environments, and for that they go unpicked- Yes I am on a tangent I know, but I always am.  :stoned:
