My first choice finds!

After a nice walk in the foresty hills near Lake Pillsbury, California I stumbled upon some chanterelles and a king bolete! The area was a fir thicket accompanied by some madrone and oak.

I apologize for shitty webcam pics. What's a good way to eat these? I like the chanterelle taste, and I don't typically like the taste of mushrooms. I think I just walk around down munching on the massive mushroom.

What's that first photo? It doesn't look like a chanterelle to me.

King bolete?!

I dont think king bolete's caps turn upwards during maturity though? I could be wrong.

Looks like that first one has gills too.

I agree that looks like it has gills, And dosnt look like chanterelle to me b/c from what ive seen in pics it has more of veins. If it has gills it is not bolet.

The second pic isn't a king bolete. It is a bolete, but not a king. The first pic... I just don't know anymore. It doesn't look like a chanterelle I'll admit, but that is a very shitty picture. The mushroom does taste good though, and I'm still alive and in high spirits. My stepdad, da fool, cooked and ate the whole fucking thing. He got a tummy ache of course. Other than him feeling sick, he's still alive.

Another note, I am smart when it comes to ingesting mushrooms. I usually have a foolish friend test them out before I do. Hah hah. This is very evil I know, but in the spirit of Darwin, survival of the fittest.
