It is not. You don't mist plain cakes though, you mist casings. Read http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23446/

Those pins need water to grow big.Mist them cake.
On casing's I mist with an ark so the water lands gently.Don't want it to pack the casing down.Makes it easy for the mcy to grow.

Hmz the MMGG says DONT mist the cakes directly... It can harm the mycelium it says.

Don't worry about it. Mist away, and mist with a arc like capt. was saying, so point your spray bottle up at an angle.

I think i read somewhere that misting the cakes directly only harms them if you overmist and have water collected on top of the mycelium.

an arc would consist of pointing the spray bottle like mentioned before up so that the water is able to diffuse? into the air a little more before landing on the cakes instead of directly aiming it at them

The big water droplets hurt the mycelium and pins, but not the small mist. If you spray so only the fine mist hits the cakes, it's better.

You don't want water sitting on the cakes but you want as much water as possible to get a big flush. Still not so much water as to cause contam's. What a fine line. When you do more cakes, experiment.
As far as water drops falling on caps it will leave a brown spot. Not good. When I have water build up on lid I knox it off when misting.

Hey KK!
Will do that, knock of the water from lid when fanning/misting. But in nature it is raining as well so I dont see the harm really, but if you guys say so.....
And yes because I want to give them enough water I am wondering about the cakemisting, sure I dont wanna overmist but hey..
Thanks KK and catcha around,
MF
