well in art we did something called optical art(optical art is art that has a repeating patteren with very contrasting colors such as yellow or white and black) something very similar to this. if you stare at it for a long time it starts seeming like it moves.


I'm thinking since its already moveing it leaves a basic imprint on your brain or eyes, just like the sun leaves a spot, anyway that it keeps rotating even when its not there and that how you get your visual effect...
