ID Mushroom Help
    #3488540 - 12/13/04 12:13 AM (11 years, 11 months ago)

Please help me ID these, and give me any info you can on them. Sizes compared to a Zippo lighter. The first were found in very close clusters in low grassy areas. sometimes they were found attached. caps found brown, dry to golden (so far). cap colors vary between those colors somewhat when found, though. gills found light grey-brown, dry to darker grey-brown.

These were found in long grassy areas. They grew close to each other, mostly scattered about in the grass, though. I'm not quite sure, but I think they looked somewhat different than their appearances now from when I found them.

Thanks.

Hello and welcome to the Shroomery

I'm not sure about the first collection, but overall look and gill colour suggests some kind of Psathyrella. The second collection looks like that of Conocybe lactea to me. Neither are active or edible.

I agree with ivi about the second ones being Conocybes. The first ones look like Panaeolina foenisecii to me. A brown spore print will verify ID. Pan foesns are not active.

Right on. Those answers sound good to me, thanks a lot. Any other posts on those pics above are welcome too, but I have two more I'm not sure of the ID on.. so I'll post them here, not in a new topic. Both found in grassy areas. Sorry if a bit smashed..
These were brown when found (wet) and pretty faaat, too.

And these have yellow dimpled tops _.-""-._ umbrella-shaped kind of, with purple-blue gills.

Again any extra info is welcomed. Thanks and sorry to be asking so much.

Hard to say on the new pics without a spore print. Could be a number of things. However, I doubt they're actives. Looks like either Psathyrella or Coprinus of some sort. Niether genera has active mushrooms in it.

yeah, if you some, which are, seemingly, melting, when youre out hunting, they are probably coprinus. One of the pictures shows one that looks coprinus-ish.
