SF Bay Area. Todays Trip. Pics!!!!!
    #3487525 - 12/12/04 06:40 PM (19 years, 3 months ago)

Just rolled in from sf. It was a short mission to see if we could find something decent.

Got a good laugh at this one. yes those are pigs feet.

Went to check on an area in oakland that has shown alot of fibs and found that the beds are all torn up.

Found a little patch with just a few fibs in it.

Some very vigorous fib mycelium.

Whats the deal with these. If you find these, actives are nearby.

Potential feild of dreams, we drove as far south at redwood city but didnt find anything. We are going to plant this area with cyans, fibs, and azures. We are going to hit some parks also.

Just a side note to hunters in the ggp. What does one do when they find some cyans next to a pile of human feces??? Dirty bums!!!

And another note for those 2 dread locked teenagers that were picking these. They are not active!! I wasnt trying to steal your stash. Just trying to give you a heads up. Studying mycology my ass.

start with 5 g's dry. They lose alot of power from wet to dry because of their psilocin/psilocybe ratio is backwards. 5 g's will be like 2 g;s cubes

fibs are an aggressive shroom. We need to start propagating cyans, fibs and azures around the bay. We were in redwood city and there wasnt anything active. I believe fibs do just fine when it comes to spreading out but the cyans need help. From talking to bums in the park who have been there for 15 years or so they say that they and their friends used to take cyan covered wood chips and plant them in other spots. I believe this is why they are so comon in ggp. Redwood city doesnt have alot of bums or hippies so the cyans arent there. We should all start spreading the mycelium everywhere. Im gonna go crazy with the fibs in the sacramento area. I think they will do well here.
Sorry just a random thought, the beer and vicadins are kicking in hard.

I got this tip from hongomeester. Ive never tried it but if it works we could get the bay poppin.

Spraybottle Mycelium:

Take a clean spray bottle, stuff one or two DARK sporeprints in the bottle, fill with water probobly 3/4 of the way full. Add a small amount of Caro Syrup(not sure if thats it but i think thats what hongo said). This will give the spores a medium to grow on. Then after maybe a day or two walk around to woodchip beds and spread the Myc. If this works we could be seeing MAJOR finds as soon as the new mycelium has established itself. Sounds good to me anyone know if it works?

heh, i believe he got that idea from me last week at the fair. Here is a pic of my experiement with it. its cyan on a piece of oak. We just need everyone to make some broth. Old 1 gallon pickle jars work great for this. This pic has 1 cc of broth on it and it was done a week ago. The only problem is that the karo will attract contams. Nature and cyans should fight it off but one could filter the mycel through cold water and a coffee filter first to remove excess sugar. Note the black mold in the corner.

I couldn't help but notice how spotlessly clean your clothes were. How do you manage this? When I emerge out of the woods after a long-hard mushroom hunt my clothes look like they were in Vietnam. Smooth guy, Tahoe, smooth guy.

Hope youre not going too deep into the woods, where actives become more and more rare.
