I don't normally post in here, but I did a search for this documentary and couldn't find anything written about it on Shroomery.. to say the least, I'm a little suprised. I think everyone needs to see it. Information about it: http://www.thecorporation.com People who speak in it, including Micheal Moore and Noam Chomsky: http://www.thecorporation.com/about/whoswho.php You can bittorrent download it here: http://66.90.75.92/suprnova//torrents/2336/The%20Corporation%5BEng%5D%5BTvRip%5D-avi.torrent Please don't comment about it unless you've seen it. Thank you. -Jared

IT really isn't that hard to predict what Chomsky and Moore will say about corporations.

Well, considering that they're only 2 out of 30 some odd people they talk with (the majority of which are CEO's of some of the world's largest Corporations.) I'd think its safe to say their opinion's and views don't sculpt the movie.

Thanks, kind sir. I simply didn't want people writing about something which they had no idea about. Sorry if wanting people to be informed about something before they talk about it doesn't flow with your ideas of proper discussion.

Had you actually visited the links he posted you would have noticed something interesting; they interviewboth sides. they interview chomsky, but they also interview people working in commodaties/securities (who talk about how when the first plane hit on 9/11, they celebrated because gold just doubled), Michael Walker the CEO of the Fraser institute (if you don't know what this is, don't ask) and Sir Mark Moody-Stuart Former Chairman, Royal Dutch Shell. Presided over Shell during Brent Spar fiasco and the hanging of Ken Saro Wiwa and eight other activists. I can't believe that you would call this propaganda...
Quote:
propaganda: A way of presenting a belief that seeks to generate acceptance without regard to facts or the right of others to be heard. Propaganda often presents the same argument repeatedly, in the simplest terms and ignores all rebuttal or counter-argument. It is essentially self-interested and often associated with authoritarian regimes. Propaganda is often used to convey official descriptions of reality, when it may be allied with bureaucratic control of media, censorship of opposing opinions and deliberate misinformation.
By definition, your use of that word is wrong.

Michael Moore interviewed Charleton Heston. That doesn't make Bowling For Columbine any less of a propaganda film. Sorry for giving my honest initial impressions of it.

that was weak. I'm not going to waste my time copying and pasting the list of people who were a part of this movie, I suggest you follow chloronate's link here and see exactly what it is before you argue on a platform of michael moore being similar.

I was already reading it before you posted. Frankly, I'd have to see it myself to see if my first impression was correct. And since torrent doesn't work for me, that'll have to wait for some other time.

Ok, I'm watching it, and I have to say I have mixed feelings about it. It's very fair in certain parts, but in other parts, they're obviously pushing a very specific agenda, giving little voice to the other side. While it may not completely fit the definition of propaganda given by blinkidiot, it certainly leans in that direction.

corporations are nothing more than a method for people to pool their resources together and cooperate, and there is nothing pathological about the persuit of profit. please. if you don't like corporations, boycott them. get rid of the computer you're looking at right now. take all of the food out of your fridge and get rid of it. your food was delivered by a truck made by a corporation, and produced with farm equipment made by a corporation. get rid of the fridge. most of your clothing... that has to go. your toothbrush, and probably the toothpaste you're using right now has to go. if you own a car, forget about that. throw out your music collection and the stereo you play it on. turn the heat off... that gas or heating oil is brought to you by a dirty corporation... for that matter, turn off the electricity too. remember that all of this stuff has to be carried by you to the nearest dump... trucks are produced by corporations.

You can't compare the corporation to Michael Moore films, they lay out their case, and do an excellent job of backing up what they say.
It is a far more analytical, academic movie than the kind of thing Moore does, which uses far more emotional manipulation.
Even if you don't agree with everything they have to say in this movie, you can't deny that they raise a very compelling case.

While it may not completely fit the definition of propaganda given by blinkidiot, it certainly leans in that direction.
Find a single political movie, or book that doesn't lean in that direction.
