Seedlings showing roots!
    #3486657 - 12/12/04 04:45 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Ok, i have 9 seedlings showing roots, they are in the jiffy disks. They are around a week old. I want to use a DWC system, but they are still to small to put into the buckets, will the roots be ok if i let them keep growing out of a medium? I ws going to let them go another week then move them into the buckets. Thanks for the help Shroomery!~

yeah. you can start to feed it rooting solution as well to spread the roots around, and don't water over the seed water on the side of the pellets or from the bottom. should help the roots spread and multiply faster.

So it is ok for the roots to be out in the open rather then in a medium? Thanks for the help!

They usually do OK. The roots dig in eventually.

If you're really worried, you can sprinkle a little sand/soil over the seed root and just dampen it some.

If the juffy cubes are on a tray with a bit of water you should be ok. You should transplant to the netpots soon. The splashes keep the hydroton wet and you can water from the top too.

If you are new to growing, why are you diving right into hydro??? I have grown in both hydro and soil extensively and always encourage new growers to start out with a few soil crops.
