Drying Chambers...any ideas?

I've since mastered all else but the setup used for drying, ie; a chamber, seemed half ass. Spending some money on a decent setup will be worth it. Used a fruit bowl with 2 grills, one to raise the dessicant and the other to hold the yield, then covered with saran wrap. This naturally after fan drying them for a day.
I need some ideas using plastic bowls.....maybe. Old lady threw a fit using her bowls.....ouch!

Here's a good idea.
Go out to Walmart and buy a cheap food dehyrator. The one with multiple racks and stuff. I found one for $20. You can go ahead and remove all the electrical components and the heating apparatus, since we're not going to be using those.
I don't care what they say. Heat is bad for shrooms. Period.
Your dehydrator should have a bunch of stackable plastic racks. On the very bottom rack, dump a whole bunch of Damp-Rid. You will probably need to place a screen on the rack, since the actual holes in the rack are pretty big and the Damp Rid will fall through.
Then you want to place the next rack on top. But since the amount of space between racks is very small, you basically want to hammer out the entire rack, except for the sides, which you want to keep so you can stack it. So basically you have a plastic ring.
Place your mushrooms on a rack above the second one. The Damp Rid sucks the water right out and the water drips into the bottom of the dehydrator for easy removal.
So basically it's a heatless food dehydrator. And it works wonderfully.

Dessicant "drying chamber" specifiations:
1. air - tight
2. fruit and dessicant layers need to be seperate
3. dessicant layer needs to have enough room below it to wick off H2o
the PF tek, other people, and myself have outlined many "correct" constructions of a "proper" drying chamber.

Thanks Redman,
Sounds like a plan. I'll also look into the "correct" chambers
that BrownPastures says exists. The one I was using was
"correct" , but not to my liking.
I'll try the dehydrator though.
