Well, this was my first time growing shrooms and I had built my terrarium and substrant from the PF Tek and MMGG, along the way I changed a few things, for example in my substrant I use vermiculite/brown rice flour/ brown rice gran/ and a dash of rye flour. I also put a lot more spore solution (about 4cc each jar). This I notice inoculate at a very excellerated pace. Day 7 of inoculation and the jar is about 75% done. For some reason I thought I had spoted a yellowish spot on the substrant so I decided to birth the cake early and check the contam out, ends up being just a watery spot on the jar that made the mycelim yellowish. In dispair I put the jar in my terrarium at 85% humidity. I just ONE Day it covered the rest with bright white mycelium and it looks like it's about to star pinning. Isn't that incredible? I think I'm going to birth a few more jars early and see if it will speed inoculate them too. Oh, mabye the cold shock for 20 minutes in the fridge did the trick? Anyone seen anything like this before? Do the math.

7 day inoculation in jar, 1 day colonization in terrarium and now it's starting the pinning. That's a record?

That water damage is because 4cc is too much.
Keep an eye on that fast-growing mycelium, it may be cobweb mould.
By the way, it's substrate not substrant.

The (mad)scientist says that the correct English spelling is mould, whereas 'mold' is an Americanization. But lets not split heirs.
