Second hand lab coats?
    #3474792 - 12/10/04 03:34 AM (19 years, 3 months ago)

I'm looking for some cheap, possibly second hand, lab coats to tie-dye.

Is it just me, or would a psychedelic lab coat just be the shit?

I have seen them on www.labx.com auction site in the past... the second hand lab coats, not the tie-dye.

I agree..... after a uniform company gets the uniforms/coats/etc back in from clients that dont want to use their service anymore, they dont re-use them with new clients.

I started a new job once, and didnt have any good work clothes ( and didnt want to ruin my everyday clothes) so i went to the uniform company and got work pants @ $1.50 a pair, and shirts @ $1.00, and they looked like new .

My parents have access to them all the time, and they're able to bring old ones home if I ask them.

I suggest asking someone from a hospital, they pretty much all have research departments (especially university hospitals), that will have old lab coats around.

Otherwise, send me a PM in two weeks when I'm visiting them, and MAYBE we can work something out. I'd have to talk to them about it first, don't know if the way things are run has changed since I used to ask for them for Halloween costums and the like.

Id like to have a tie-dye lab coat. The instruments and goggles would be an interesting get-up for a night out on the town.

I used to see this T-shirt with a little boy playing with a lab set.. Wish I had bought it.. cool shit.

Apparently I'm not the first to think of it.

I would have gone with a darker, more earthy color scheme.

Yeah, I've been looking on ebay too.

Some pretty good deals there. I think I'll need it to have as much cotton as possible. I'm not sure if polyester can be dyed.

Ha, I would love to walk into my job with a tie-dye lab coat...although i think there's a good reason for them being white but fuck it.

It could be your street lab coat.

How comfortable are they to wear? Would they make functional garment for everyday use?

I just asked my dye expert, and he says it needs to be 100% cotton. The highest I have seen so far is 35% cotton %65 polyester. Most are only 20% cotton.
