are you casing jars or just letting them fruit as cakes? If cakes just keep them incubating for at least a week longer after the outside is completely colonized you can even let them invitro in the jar before birthing. that way you dont have to wait anxiously for them to fruit... if your casing just case a couple days after the outside is colonzied

from what ive read you DO NOT want invitro pinning to occur before casing.. so just make a note of that...

nope just give it a few more days after the outside.. should be plenty.. remember mycellium is colonzing inside as well it does JUST do outside first.. it slowly works its way in...

DO IT!!

But what I did, was once it was like 95% colonized (like is it ready yet?? area), i shook it like crazy...then waited for it to turn brilliant white again. And it did within 2 or 3 days, and i knew it was def. ready at that point.

that's a bunch of shit, what kinda substrate is in your jar, your a new comer here, which is nothing wrong with that as I'm new myself, but i know for a fact that at 95 percent no jar is gonna shake with the exception of some grains. I'm pretty sure your talking about pf tek jars and if so there's no way it shook enough to change the color or help at all. also when casing them, it is more important to have it colonized all the way, don't listen to these kids. now i may be wrong and if so please bitch me out, but when you case your crumbling the cake and exposing the inside to contams, and if it isn't fully colonized it will be easier to contam and also take longer for the mycelium to resume growth and poke through the casing layer, so therefor it has to be fully colonized to case and with cakes it should be to but its not a big of an issue as with casings, because if its fully colonized on the outside it will fight off contams with no problem while the inside is still colonizing and in the end will only take longer to fruit.

i wait four days after the outside is colonized JUST IN CASE. the mycelium doesn't colonize just the outside first, it's going inside too.

Ky, good job. I can't see anyone shaking a 95% done grain jar and getting very far with it without bruising the living hell out of the mycelium in the jar... and shaking a PF jar will only bruise it.

oh, and happy 420 post kykid.

Nah man, you're right on the money. There is a lot of misinformed people around here so this should be a lesson to many to not just take the word of anyone, no offense, everyone's gotta learn. People should be more like KyKid and step in when they see false info.  :sun:

Thats horribly bad advice that will lead to contaminated.

It would be my suggestion to those reading this to listen to Kykid.

Right..it needs water..dry verm will soak up water and it will spread to it a bit..but some should remain dry and free of myc and contams..thats the whole point of the dry verm is nothing will grow in dry..
