Too Much Perilite

Putting too much perilite into the terrarium won't cause the shrooms to over humidify will it? I currently have about 3 inches of perilite cause I poured too much water in the first time and had to level it off with more perilite. And no I could not just drain it... I have a really immoble terrarium setup

Casings or cakes? If casings, too much humidity is BAD.
In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird, people take prozac to make it normal. PEACE

It actually doesn?t matter at all if you have 1 ot 10 inches of perlite in your terrarium, the thinner will simply run out of water faster than a thick one.

Anno's got it dead on. The surface of the perlite is all that transpires, the rest of it just acts as a wick.

Assuming the terr. is sealed (at least mostly air tight) then the humidity should climb high enough to leave droplets in a couple of days. You can speed the whole process up by misting it.

Just how would you go about dropping the humidity when your ready to fruit a casing? I've been having this problem and getting a bit of overlay. Should I maybe just cut an extra hole in the terrarium so some of the humidity escapes?

If your getting overlay then you don't have enough air exchange, cutting or drilling some small holes in the terrarium should help with that.

Why not just fan a little more often? That should drop the humidity plenty.
