balls of fluff on pk cake

i have 1/2 pint pf cakes in beginning fruiting stages, yet some of the cakes have these large balls that look like a shroom without a head- just a ball of fluff, slightly yellowish- and they don't appear to be growing anymore. is this normal?

This happens sometimes. You can pick those balls once they stop growing, they are as potent as mushrooms.
