I don't think using a plate would work that well. It would be better to use some screen material like the kind on screen doors to put the shrooms on (of course, over something that the water can drip into, like a plastic storage box). A screen will allow for more even drying.
I wish I had a Kryptonite cross, because then I could keep both Dracula AND Superman away.

get a cardboard box, remove two flaps from the bottom, stand it on end, string it with thread across the front a few times (hold in place with masking tape or whatever) and saw halfway through the stem, leaving the hongos hanging upside down... and let the fan blow over your dispasable drying rack until they are pretty-well dehydrated.. you can finish them off in a very low heat oven, or in a sealed vessel with a dessicant...
