Summation of What I have Learned
    #3471349 - 12/09/04 05:20 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

After many years and way too many posts here is what I have gathered:

Once one chooses to believe something, whether political, social or spiritual; the following have NO effect on most people:

Lack of evidence to support such a position.

Inconsistency wherein one aspect of the belief system DIRECTLY CONTRADICTS another portion.

Facts that show the position to be erroneous.

This type of bull dog-like tenacity to glom onto an intial position (thorugh choice or brain-washing) and not let go is a major weakness of mankind and prevents all sorts of progress, leads to war, idiotic laws, persecution, intolerance and general chaos.

No folks, we are certainly NOT READY to join the Intergalactic Federation and won't be for a long time.

did it really require many years and many posts to come to such a simple conclusion?

No belief system ( and i very highly doubt humans are capable of not having a belief system) is perfect, and when exploring a world view it is ridiculous to abandon ship at the smallest jolt. It takes a long time to overthrow a world view, because it takes a while to review its validity.

yes, why?

And how to avoid believing? Is belief a type of information, or is it a physiological aspect of the brain? hmmm

Don't judge the world's denizens based on posts on a message board. Most of the views here are harmless. I, for one, wouldn't go to war for any of mine, nor would I (consciously) halt progress.

Side note: if aliens' consciousness is anything like ours, I doubt there'll be an Intergalactic Federation to begin with.

No, but I had held out higher hopes for such a gathering of minds.

You can not change or destroy peoples beliefs Swami. Give up.

But, but, but, I don't want to go to war with Iraq because 70% of Americans believe Saddam was responsible for 9/11. I want to see my money spent on better things and certainly hate seeing people die for essentially nothing.

And I certainly don't want pseudo-moralists intruding in my personal affairs such as telling me what I can or can't watch or locking me up for using a plant or being nude in nature. (Well OK, maybe there IS a reason for a hairy, middle-aged guy to cover up, but I digress...)

If this generation doesn't "get it"; and especially if this group of people doesn't "get it", then how many more years must we wait for reason to take over?

A brain not consciously utilized is a waste.

WAKE UP!

What would you have us wake up to? I'm just curious, not trying to imply anything.

What's your ideal view, your goal for us?

As I just put in another post, for five years now, almost every single time I have been on the verge of showing somebody something (not telling them) by leading them by the hand through the use of specific questions, they sense the truth around the corner, freak-out and bluster.

Here is a v-e-r-y typical exchange that took place in the last few days:

Poster F: If you believe he (God) is invisible he will remain invisible.

Swami: I am going to go out on a limb and extrapolate that you mean the obverse as well. Correct me if I am wrong. If you believe he is visible he will become visible. OK, now lets apply that to ANY mythological object. If I believe that unicorns are visible, they will become visible. If they are not visible, then I truly did not believe. This is merely a tautology and points directly to imagination.

Poster Z: The unicorn argument is soo 1990's Swami.
Non-responsive dodge #1. Weak attempt to insult.

Poster P: Nice counter argument.

Poster Z: I'm quite logical.
Non-responsive dodge #2.

Swami: So by being deliberately obtuse, you are saying that you can find no flaw in my logic?

Poster Z: As if you would know why anyone finds God in the first place.
Non-responsive dodge #3. Attempt to impugn my intelligence.

Swami: Noise aside, I would STILL like for you to directly answer why you find my analogy to be flawed. If you cannot, then merely say so.

Poster Z: Elaborate your anology, swami. Referring to unicorns as a point of position doesn't give much even for Markos to work with.
Non-responsive dodge #4. Attempt to wear down the questioner so as to be rid of pesky logic. Notice also the appeal to authority - what another might do or not do or say.

Swami: The analogy doesn't need to be expanded. How will muddying it with more words clarify a simple question? Substitute any mythological creature for Unicorn if it makes you feel better. Now stop the dodging and answer or admit you have no response.

Poster Z: To be honest, my mouth is killing me from getting my wisdoms pulled and I really don't have the energy tonight to run around in circles with you Swami.
Non-responsive dodge #5. Appeal to physical pain. He can not answer the actual question, but has the energy to type dozens of non-answers.

Poster Z: Take this however you want, at this moment I honestly don't care.
Non-responsive dodge #6. The apathy approach shows the poster has totally closed down and refuses to participate in the discussion.

This type of "exchange" occurs here daily. The roadblocks are enormous. Why do I continue? Because occasionally, a few minds start to question themselves and it is amazingly rewarding to watch them blossom.

Swami gets his galactic news from Star Treck.

If one knew the difference between the inter galactic federation and the galactic federation, they would not want to join the federation BECAUSE they are just like dualistic, power tripping, manipulative humans.

The star systems belonging to the inter galactic confederation have all moved back into oneness and honor free will and do not intervene in human affairs unless asked to. Even then, its in a helping you to help yourself manor- not a "doing it for you" manor.

For example, many moons ago, people prayed for help from out of the darkness. The conferation sent in many helpers to bring light here, jesus being one of them.

This pissed off the federation. They cloned Jesus, had Sananda, aka leader of the federations ashtar command take the crucifiction fall to corrupt the message and associate fear with the name of jesus. He NEVER would of let himself be crucified to save us from our sins, he didn't even beleive in sin. He was actually well recieved by the masses too.

If his dying on the cross to save us all from our sins has not made sense to you, this is why.

The Confederation let the federation play their games here because they honor free will.

THAT episode hasn't aired on Star Trek yet. You have to be able to tune into intergalactic hyperspace drama television to catch that one.

I can agree with this, "there is a lot to wake up to folks!"

Keep discerning information for yourself.
