I'd like some feedback on this, maybe it's not what I think it is. The story so far is: A while ago after a good hunt I found all my cubies where infected with parasites, maggots and what-not so I took spore prints from them. I wasn't really planning on serious cultivating then because I knew nothing about it at all. I just thought they grew out of shit and that's all there was to it. So I bought a bag of cow manure (fertalizer) mixed the caps into it as well as the spore prints and chucked it out in my back garden. Even then I thought the idea was stupid so never bothered checking to see if anything happened. About a week ago though, I did see and to my utter surprise there was a thin layer of white fuzzy stuff growing over part of the pile. As a co-incidence I had a whole heap of sterilized substrate jars just sitting around so I got a small clump of fuzzy manure and put it into one of the jars. Now, a week later the jar has got some white fuzzy stuff growing in it! Is it possible that this is mycelium? I'm not even sure it was mycelium on the manure, it could be some other type of mold or fungus or something. It's quite fine, white fuzz. It's not growing in strands or threads and it's very whispy but it's only just appeared. At first I thought it was some mist on the inside of the jar, but it's definatley something growing. I thought it may be 'cobweb mold' - what's the difference in appearence (vs. mcelyium)? Please help. BTW I have photos of the manure and the jar if anyone wants 'proof' or is interested just let me know...

Here's a photo of the manure pile with the mystery white stuff on it. I will post pictures of the jar as soon as it gets developed.
What do you think? Thanks for any help...

It's very hard to tell just by "white growth" alone. The best thing is to keep watering and hope for fruits. Sounds like it's working , i'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted if your pach progresses. Peace

I've never seen cobweb mold growing on anything outside. I'm not sure if it does as well outside as in jars and casings. The only time I have seen it grow outside of my mushroom growing is on pumpkins left on my porch after halloween.
Tired of pimping yourself on the corner to afford spores? Well throw out that red dress and go to the FSR, for spores even you can afford.

Cobweb mold is not the only WHITE mold... Tryc. sometimes starts out looking like AGRESSIVE , white mycelial growth. It's just to early to tell in my opinion. peace

Yeah, I'll took a couple of good snaps of the jar, so I'll have them developed in a day or two.
So what's the general consensus on the manure? Do you think that's definatley mycelial growth?
