Lucid Dreaming
    #3467893 - 12/09/04 12:33 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Lucid dreaming sounds like it could be a fun, and believable experience. I've been thinking lately how it really sounds like Tel'aron'rhiod in Robert Jordan's books, and I was wondering if anyone had any good links ot a site that can get me started in experiecing lucid dreams.

Not sure man. But check out "Waking Life". It's a kickass movie.

As to books, start with Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge

Yep, lucid dreaming is rather fantastic. Better than any drug, IMHO.

I read a lot about this months ago. Kinda forgot about it, but kept it in the back of my mind. Long story short, I finally had a few last night, but it was only once I started doing as I wished when I woke up. I realized I was dreaming, decided on some fun and once it got going, I awoke. This happened about three times last night. How can I stay asleep, but lucid?

I have been very active in lucid dreaming, I would recommend everyone interested to join the forum at www.ld4all.com (www.ld4all.nl for dutch people  ). Lucid dreaming is really great, a nice lucid dream is an incredible experience everytime I have one, it just is great fun and really interesting.

I've experienced it twice before I even knew for sure what is lucid dreaming, so I think a good place to start is your bed

Lots of info out there

Remember one thing though, lucid dreaming requires thorough day to day efforts to get to, especially if you've never had any before.
Its rare that these dreams just happen, the hardest part is being able to ask yourself in your dream if you are dreaming or not, and for that will to leak through to your subconscious, you have lots of conscious efforts to make. Not to despair you, but it took me like 3 months of work to have my first LD (even though its true that i was slacker a few days)...oh, and one other thing, quit smoking if you do.

Just a hop, skip and a jump away from OOBEs, me thinks. I read an awesome book on Astral Projection months ago and really got into the whole idea...but when you don't stay consciously focused on it...your desire just doesn't hold. During/after reading the book, I had a couple times when I did start to consciously disconnect from my body. But it's really best to already be disconnected before you become conscious, or else you're likely to fall back into alignment. I was lying on my stomach once, and I could see the top of my head...

I should try to have more lucid dreams. I really think all it takes is DESIRE, just keeping the idea of it in your head. I had one where I was walking down a hallway and all the sudden realized it was a dream..."I think I'll float" and just sorta floated back and forth and around in circles, till I noticed this shadow man down below who seemed to communicate "It's time to come down now" and guided me down, because I didn't seem to have any idea how to do so myself.

Ok, the more I read this, the more confused I get...
you all speak of desire for lucid dreaming and preparation.
How is it possible that I had two of them without preparation or desire for them?

That's a bit more extreme than lucid dreaming, it's as some would say paranormal

Well, I didn't mean to make it sound as if it's a necessity. I was just saying that if your mind is more focused on it, you'll likely be able to have them more often. For some people, no effort is required at all. But for a lot of people it does take a little effort if you really want to be able to have them and control them more (prolly has something to do w/ western culture's emphasis on materialism). But yeah, if a person submerges their thoughts in something, it's going to create a subconscious desire which will act on your subconscious will when you're asleep. And subconscious will is powerful stuff.

Or maybe I'm full of shit

It depends on the person, you seem to be a person that can have LDs with little effort, i'm sure if you actually do work on it every day, you will be able to have many lucid dreams.

I have a friend with whom i started discussing this topic with, and she told me about how sometimes when she is dreaming, she realizes that she is in a dream, and she doesn't like it and she tries to wake up. I was like "What!? You're lucky as fuck to be able to Lucid dream like that!...Next time, instead of saying "oh no this is a dream", try and say "hell ya, i'm dreaming!""
I wish i could lucid dream as easily as she does.

That's great, then if this is rare without practice, I should consider my self lucky, because I do like it, it's an amazing experience.
