quilted jars?

Hey all,
I've been doing some searching for some 1/2 pint tapered jelly jars to start my rice cakes in. I haven't had any luck finding any that are just plain glass. They all have the quilted design on them. Will this make it more difficult to keep up with the mycelium growth and detecting contamination since you don't have a 'clear' view of what's inside the jar?

yes, it makes it more difficult to see contams, etc.. avoid using them if you can.

I've made due with them. It's all they sell around here. Trust me, you'll be able to see contams thru them.

Yes you'll see the contams. There's one thing tho, if you pack your substrate in there too tight and your cakes dont really shrink that much before birth, taking the cakes out of those jars will BRUSE the sides. Nothing will grow off of the bruised sides.
