damn humidity
    #346730 -

My cat is running a cool mist humidfier into a 45 L. plastic container. Everything is fine except the humidity is way too high but he has almost fixed that. The problem is there is still crowns of mycellium on the caps. I thought that was a sign of too low humidity. But the humidity isn't too low cause some of the little ones are turning to blue mush. He mists twice a day and fans it out. But he still sees pics on here of nice caps with no crowns. WHAT TO DO???

nope, if ur humidity is too high myc will grow all over the place... i have seen myc growing on HARVESTED shrooms that were stored with not enough air flow (this problem was quickly identified and they were subsequently moved

i say lower your humidity, if u can't fix the cool mist try for perlite, it is cheap and it works. with casings you should aim for anywhere from 95% when pins are forming, and then lower it to 85+% once the primorida have grown into mushrooms. with cakes a constant 95+% will do.

If you have mycelium on your caps your humidity is too high.

If the little ones are turning to mush then your humidity is too high. Try just misting once a day.

As long as there is humidity on the inside walls of your terrarium then your humidity is over 90%. If the top is sealed well, it will stay up there for a couple days. Over misting is the most common problem I can think of.
