Louisiana cubes from 11/23/04 hunt

This afternoon I got out for an evening hike in one of my favorite local fields. It was soaked, as you can see from the pics. It is supposed to cool down over the next few days, and this field is so full of spores that I can only imagine that the pickings next week will be even better. Here they are. Check out the cube in these first two pics growing out of the top of a dead branch. This place has so much shit in it the shrooms are growing everywhere.
Random shots of some cubes:
my pickin' cap got full quick. Had to put them in a bag and refill:
Night came on me quick, so had to use a flash:
Look how purty these are. You can see the old ones tumbled over at the top and at the bottom right corner of the pic. I found shrooms at every stage of growth.
Couple shots of the bring homes:

btw, cube, my cam is an Olympus Camedia C-700 with UltraZoom. And I don't find a lot of copes in Lake Charles. I have to go toward Baton Rouge to find copes.

Cubensis never cease to amaze me, they are so aggressive! All it takes is dung to germinate spores, after the mycelium is growing it will latch on and colonize anything. I've found em growing from wood with no dung in site, I know that somwhere at sometime there was dung in these woodchips, but the mycelium had moved to the wood shavings and was doing quite well growing from the shavings alone.
