Cotton can mold. I wouldn't use cotton.

Cotton is absorbent, and will hold water and grow mold. We use poly fill because it is plastic-type fiber that does not hold water.

dude go to your post office get some tvek..but then you have aneedle size hole exposed but then you can put foil over the jars..which i don't..but you can..to keep out any possible contams.

In my experiences poly fill filters are better. My tyvek colonization time is like 25 days, my poly fill colonization time is 10.

Big bags a cheap. Tyveks cool too and free. Either works great..I prefer tyvek for most though.
