Areas in Huntsville, Texas?
    #3463843 - 12/08/04 11:44 AM (11 years, 11 months ago)

I've never been hunting before much less at a new place I just moved to a few months ago. I'm not sure where would be a good place in my area. Just seeing if anyone would know or maybe lives around here and can give me any help. Thanks in advance!

The best help we can give is to read the info on this site. The hunting FAQ has the answer to your question.

I have read alot of the FAQ and I really appreciate the help I have found. I was more specifically looking for maybe someone who can give me a general location in my area. I'm new to the area and a little timid about where to go. There ARE some woods next to my apartments so maybe I'll poke around out there.

find some fields with cows. You'll find dung shrooms where you live. The ones in the woods won't be psilocybes in your area, unless there are cows in those woods. You're not suppose to ask for specific locations here. If you've read the faq, then you should know the general areas that you should be looking.

Dont say you read it when theres no way youd be asking the question you did if you read it.

"Locations that are allowed: Park names, highways names (long stretches of highways), town names."

I was looking for something along those lines, but thanks anyways.

I did read it. Never mind. This wasn't exactly the responses I was hoping to get from this site.

Hey that's what I told you. You're in a prime location for finding mushrooms. If you are looking for actives, then look on cow shit in YOUR town. Just remember that trespassing is illegal.

If you read the FAQ you would know what mushrooms grow in your area, and where and when to look. Dont get pissed at us cause u want us to do the work for u.

I'm not pissed man. I just said never mind. I have read the FAQ and I know where they are supposed to grow. I have also heard from friends that some places won't produce like others. I was just wondering if someone in my area knew a good place to go and since specific areas are prohibited then MAYBE they could give me a general area. Thats all. I'm just a little timid about finding a place. If you don't want to help then that's cool but you don't have to be rude man.

Ok i apologize. Its just that u didnt say that. The best way is to get out and look. I hunted for hours and hours and hours before i found anything. I didnt mean to be rude. U just gotta get out there and look. Thats half the fun. it isnt the same if you knew where to look already.

hahahaha I was afraid you were going to say you didn't find any your first time. Even if I looked for hours I would just want to find a couple. That would be worth it. Cause then I would know a place you know? There are ALOT of cow pastures in my area. Which is good I know but just knowing how many there are is intimidating cause it's like "where do I begin?".

Get in your car and drive around and check out the fields. Find one that is secluded from the road by woods. Park your car and go to that field and hunt. Be diligent and I'll bet you find some.

Yea I'm definately going to go and look tonight. I'll post and let you all know how it turns out. I will also probably need some help identifying them. Obviously wouldn't want to eat a poisonious one. Oh....yea that's a good question. Are there are particular ones that are abundant in my area but that are poisionous? I suppose maybe ones that I should know off the bat ya know? hahaha I doubt I be able to tell anyways.

Fortunately cubes are very easy to identify. Look at some of the ones I posted from my hunt yesterday.

hey I live in the PNW, and it took me about 8 hours the first time I went. I only found about an eighth dry, I dont know man, if you cant handle hit and miss situations, wich I seem to run into alot, you may give up pretty quick. But I learn something new everytime I go out. Wether or not I come home empty handed, Im stoked. Definatly would rather come home with pounds but...yeah you get the picture. Heh, its kinda like fishing sometimes.

Cool....so you don't live THAT far away from me. You don't live THAT close either...hahahaha isn't that the great thing about Texas? Hopefully it doesn't get too cold today so that I have some better chances of finding some. I don't have a problem with not finding any, which probably comes from liking fishing. I just prefer to find some, I think that's reasonable though.
